Carol Atterberry

Carol M. (LaChapelle) Atterberry, 94, of Walnut Grove, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.  She was born June 25, 1931, in Beaver, Wisconsin, to Alfred Joseph and Nina Mae (Lalone) LaChapelle. 
On December 31, 1950, Carol and Roy Lee Atterberry were united in marriage and shared over 52 years together, before Roy’s passing in 2003.  
Carol was a Christian before anything else and a member of Harold Baptist Church. She worked as a civil servant at Fort Leonard Wood working in different capacities such as tent repair and hospital receptionist. Carol also worked at H.D. Lee in Lebanon for many years. She had a God given talent of painting and painted many portraits of family throughout her life. Carol also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  
Carol is survived by children: Debra Sappington and husband, Rick; Clint Atterberry and wife, Sue; grandchildren: David Sappington and wife, Jodie;, Brian Sappington and wife, Melissa; Ashley LeGrand and husband, Jake; Christopher Atterberry and wife, Mallory; great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Abby, Gracie, Taylor, Colton, Luke, Nora, Evie; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Nina (Lalone) LaChapelle; husband, Roy Atterberry; siblings, Faith, Gene, and Junior. 
Visitation was 1 p.m. until service time, Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services began at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove. 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Joe Indian Reservation School and may be left with the funeral home.
