Leslie Howard Murray, 85, of Greenfield, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in Arroyo Grande, California, enjoying one of his favorite things in life, traveling in a train.
He was born on February 4, 1940 in Exeter, California, to Chester Melvin and Lucy Eileen (King) Murray. Leslie proudly served his country in the Unites States Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer after serving two tours in Vietnam, and also in the Philippines and Hawaii. Leslie earned the Good Conduct Award, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Navy Unit Commendation.
He was united in marriage to Clarita Labrador on June 10, 1962 in the Philippines. Leslie enjoyed studying arboriculture and planting trees. He also had passion for trains and loved traveling.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Chester and Lucy Murray; his wife, Clarita Murray; one brother, Thomas Murray; and one sister, Carolyn Wagner.
Survivors include his two daughters, Theresa Renee Murray-Sagun and Elizabeth Kay Murray; four sisters: Patricia Coffey, Jean Cannell, Mary Koerber, and Linda Newkirk; three grandchildren: Rostan Alexander, Michael Sagun and wife Isabella, and Nico Murray; two great-grandchildren, Ava Sagun and Lea Sagun; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Private family graveside services will be at Greenfield Cemetery.
