Marilyn Murphy

Marilyn Mae Murphy, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 87.

She was born on November 15, 1938 to Hershel Frieze and Etha Mae (Harris) Frieze.  

Marilyn was a wonderful homemaker, and had worked several years as an office manager for Dr. Curt Roger’s Dental Office in Greenfield.  She enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her flowerbeds.

Preceding her in death was her father, Hershel Frieze; her mother, Etha Mae Marler; and her step-father, William Glenn Marler. 

Survivors include five sons, Michael Bryant, Paul Bryant, Chad Murphy, Dustin Murphy, and John Murphy; one daughter, Susan Van Hoose; five grandchildren, Joshua Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Jenifer Young, Tristan Murphy, and Ashley Murphy; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Young and Keegan Young.

Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel.  

Inurnment was at Greenfield Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society.
