Mary Hand

Mary Lou Hand, age 79, of Ash Grove, Missouri, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Circle of Life Hospice Home in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born November 10, 1946, in Orange, California, the daughter of Gladys Lucille Yeager.

Mary was a 1963 graduate of Hemet High School in Hemet, California and was a homemaker. She enjoyed camping, spending time with her family and was of Baptist faith.

On December 24, 1963, she married Jim Hand, in Hemet, California.

Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim; one daughter, Susan Durbin of Ash Grove, Missouri; two sons, James Hand, Jr. of Ash Grove, Missouri and Stephen Hand and his wife, Tammy, of Portland, Tennessee; two sisters, Dorothy Pedrola and her husband, Tom, of Camdenton, Missouri and Patti Bartlett of Linn Creek, Missouri; two brothers, Jack Chappell and his wife, Barbara, of Hemet, California and Bobby Chappell, of Lebanon, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson on the way and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Stevenson. 

A visitation was held from 12 –1 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, with a funeral service following at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial was held at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
