James Reed

James Kinneth Reed, age 79, of Neosho, Missourim left this world on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Joplin. He was born on September 26, 1946, in Arcola, Missouri, to Vester Reed and Ruth (Sparks) Reed.

James obtained his GED and later earned his associate’s degree in water and wastewater management. He spent many years working as a Class A treatment plant operator. During his career, he worked in Elgin, Illinois; Glendale Heights, Illinois; and O’Fallon, Illinois, until his retirement in 2009. 

James married his wife, Katherine (Paul) Reed on February 3, 1968, at the United Methodist Church in Neosho, Missouri, and she survives of the home.

James enjoyed spending time fishing, attending auctions, and working with his hands through woodworking projects. 

More than anything, James treasured his family. He loved being a “Grandpa” to his grandchildren and “Papa” to his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed every moment spent with them.

Additional survivors include his son, James Reed and wife, Kristen, of Neosho; grandson, James Reed of Neosho; granddaughter, Emily Frische and husband, Jorden, of Diamond, Missouri; two great-granddaughters, Amelia Frische and Eleanor Frische; and niece, Michelle Hill and husband, Craig of Neosho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Ruth Reed.

James was cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.
