Karen Herren

Karen J. Spencer Herren 60, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026.  She was born October 17, 1965, in Springfield, Missouri, to Richard Harold and Oma Grace (Ware) Spencer. 

Karen worked as a medication technician and certified nursing assistant in Springfield, Missouri, where she enjoyed caring for others. She also volunteered in many capacities such as: Cox North Hospital, her church’s puppet ministry and food pantry, and a camp counselor at the special-needs camp in El Dorado Springs. Karen was a faithful member of Praise Fellowship in Springfield.

Karen loved arranging flowers, mowing, music, movies and television, and spending time with animals. She also enjoyed board games and had a competitive spirit. 

Karen appreciated the simple things in life and found joy in everyday moments, leaving behind memories of kindness, service, and quiet contentment- even in the very end- as she was an organ donor.

Karen is survived by her siblings: Mike Spencer and wife, Krisiti; Sharon Long and husband, Terry; seven nieces and nephews; six great nieces and nephews; her beloved dog, Daisy, other family and friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Grace Spencer.

Visitation was 10 a.m. until service time, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Ash Grove. Celebration of Life services will begin at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Praise Fellowship, Springfield, Missouri and may be left with the funeral home.
