Dale William Garner

Dale William Garner, 78, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away on July 17, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
For many years, Dale worked as a custom farmer and a licensed welder, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and willingness to help others. Whether he was in the field, fixing something that needed repaired, or simply emptying trash barrels, Dale was always ready to lend a hand. If someone needed help, especially one of his kids, he was there without hesitation. Later on, he enjoyed property auctions, and buying and selling land. 
Family was the center of Dale’s life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry, and Marjorie Garner, his brother, Wally Garner and his sister, Vonda Pearlman.
Dale is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Dobyns) Garner; his children, Kevin Garner (Carmen Wallace), Melissa Garner (Josh Wheeler), and Marla Shorney; his grandchildren, Madison (Bryant), Lindsey (Grayson), Lincoln, Danielle, Kameron, Tyson, Peyton, Harper, and Gwen; his sisters, Neva Kay (Newt) Robinson and Marsha (Rodney) Druce; four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Dale had a special place in his heart for children, but nothing brought him more joy than his own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved watching his youngest great-grandson, Colter, running around and playing, it always brought a smile to his face. 
When he wasn’t working, there was a good chance you would find Dale enjoying a cup of coffee with his many coffee drinking friends. He also treasured time spent around the card table with the Chilcutts, sharing countless laughs and memories over the years. More recently Friday night farkle games with his family time together that he looked forward to and enjoyed immensely. Evenings without any games going on would be spent in his recliner watching farming or cooking videos, or John Wayne.
Dale will be remembered not only for the work of his hands, but for the generosity of his heart. His quiet acts of service, dependable nature, and deep love for his family touched countless lives. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love that will continue through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Summit Cemetery.
