June Reed

June Reed, 94, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed peacefully to be with her Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. She had just celebrated her 94th birthday. She was born on September 22, 1932, in Meade, Kansas, to Orval and Julia Craig. 

June married Ron Reed, on November 3, 1951, in Junction City, Kansas, and they shared a lifetime of love and adventures. 

June was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mt Vernon, Missouri, for many years where she participated in various church activities. She was affectionately known as the pie/cookie lady.

Some of June and Ron’s adventures were living in multiple places across the United States. She often said, “I’ve lived from Washington, D.C to California.” June and Ron opened a donut shop in Mount Vernon, Missouri, but their cooking and generosity were never confined to just a job. June’s whole life was an outpouring of love to others, primarily through meals and cookies at her home. June’s children and grandchildren always remember her house as a place of welcome and refuge. She loved them with unconditional love.

June was extremely sweet, but she was also dedicated and hard-working. Her nickname “Bull-Necker” meant that she had an independent spirit, ready to do what needed to be done. She was mowing the lawn well into her 80’s, and she cleaned the sanctuary at her beloved church. 

Most of all, June was a prayer warrior. Her countless hours of prayer are what held her family together through the good and the bad. June’s life motto was “count your blessings.” 

June was preceded in death by her parents Orval and Julia Craig and her two brothers and two sisters. 

June is survived by her son, Rick and wife, Barbara Reed; daughter, Gloria, and husband, Gordon Small; grandsons, Ryan and wife, Lauren Reed, Nathan, and wife, Lindsey Small, Andrew Small, Luke and wife, Joanna Small, and Jason and wife, Hannah Small; granddaughter, Julia Small and fiancée, Matt Butner; great-grandchildren, Lilian Back, Tyson Back, Rowan Reed, Ezra Small, and Selah June Small; many Craig family nieces and nephews; a special niece, Tammi Reed; one brother-in-law, David Bieber; her close friends, Noeda, Tim and Jeanne Rice and all her family at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

A visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon IOOF Cemetery.
