Curtis Young

Curtis Young, 66, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.  He is survived by friends he considered family.  

He will be greatly missed by those who were close to him including John and Kassy (his angel), Chris and Lisa, John and Suzanne, and Julie.  Most importantly he will be missed by his little dog, Sophie. She was his world. She is being well cared for, loved, and spoiled by Renae.  

All are thankful he is no longer struggling with pain.  He won the battle with cancer two years ago, but still struggled with pain.  Now he is free from it all. 

Curtis had a wide variety of interests.  He loved anything space related, rocks, trains, bingo, yard work, and even painting. He paid great attention to detail.  He loved people.  He had a heart of gold.  

Being mechanically inclined allowed him to use his knowledge to help those in need.  He was a truck driver for most of his life until an on the job injury forced him to retire early. 

He was married to Marlene.  He loved and cared for her until she passed away in 2025.    

He was a true friend in every sense of the word.  We will forever miss your eccentric ways and your special trustworthy faithfulness.  Our bonds with each other were made stronger by you.
