Benjamin”Ben” Walker Friend (Ferwalt)

Benjamin “Ben” Walker Friend (Ferwalt), 12, of Lockwood, Missouri, was born November 13, 2004 and left this world on September 19, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident on September 17, 2017.

Ben was a very loving child and always had a smile and a hug for everyone. He will be missed by many.

Ben is survived by his parents, Tommy and Andrea Ferwalt, of the home; sister, Meleeah, of the home; brother, Eli, of the home; step-sisters, Shay, Tabby and Tracy; and step-brothers, Tyler and Cody. He also leaves his maternal great-grandmother, Jean West, of Stockton, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Beth West, of Stockton, Missouri; his paternal grandfather, Paul Bowles, of Farmington, Missouri; and a paternal step-grandmother, Georgia Ferwalt, of Republic, Missouri. Ben is also survived by his maternal aunt, Sarah and her spouse Daniel Greenstreet and their children (Jonathan, Laura and Erick); his maternal aunt, Monica Bowles and her children (Seth, Michael and Jacob), and his paternal cousins, Jeremy and Amber Boyd and their children (Braden and Ryder) of Greenfield, Missouri. He is also survived by many great-aunts, great-uncles, aunts, uncles, family members, and friends too numerous to mention; and his biological father, Chip Friend, and step-mother, Tracy and their three children of Greenfield, Missouri.

Ben was preceded in death by his maternal great-great-grandmother, Wilbia Sell; maternal great-grandfather, Kirby West; his paternal great-grandmother, Marlene Thornburgh; paternal great-grandfather, Tommy Bowles; and his grandfather, Roy Friend.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in the Lockwood High School Gymnasium. Burial followed in Pennsboro Cemetery.
The family received friends on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. until service time in the Lockwood High School Gymnasium. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ben Friend Memorial Fund established at Arvest Bank of Lockwood.
