Opal Kathrina Owens

Opal Kathrina Owens, age 94, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center.

She was born July 6, 1923, in Dade County, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Franklin and Cecile Marie (Hedlie) Pierce.

Opal was a registered nurse at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon and she enjoyed dancing, bowling, cooking and watching football and golf. She was of the Assemblies of God faith.

Opal married Clarence Jones on March 19, 1940, in Greenfield. Missouri and to this union there were six children: James Jones, Mae Fisher, Connie Daniel, Joyce Campbell, Donald Jones and Lile Jones.

She is also survived by three sisters: Hazel Purdy, Cleo Cagie and Janet Dill; 13 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren: 31 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Robert and Cecile; first husband Clarence; second husband, Gary; daughter, Connie Daniel; son, Lile Jones; three brothers, Roy, Carl and Orville Pierce; and two sisters, Alberta Pierce and Geraldine Mitchell, all preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with burial following at the Summit Cemetery.
