Wayne Estel Mallory

Wayne Estel Mallory, age 87, of Columbus, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018.

Wayne was born July 19, 1930, in Everton, Missouri, to the late Freddie Clarence and Pearl Ethel (Gillaspy) Mallory.
He married the love of his life, Wilma M. Jones, in Greenfield, Missouri, October 28, 1949, moving to the Columbus, Kansas, area shortly after, in 1950.
They attended Macedonia Baptist Church for some time, and were members of Antioch Christian Church in Everton.

Wayne worked for Reeves Construction, operating heavy machines; spent 15 years ranching at B&N Ranch in Mineral, Kansas; and ran the Big Brutus attraction, which he was passionate about. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, and loved camping.

Surviving Wayne are his wife, Wilma, of the home; three sons: Michael W. (wife Catherine) Mallory of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jarold Lee (wife Sallye) of Joplin, Missouri; and Thomas J. (wife Genee’) of Riverton, Kansas; three grandchildren: Zachary R. Mallory of Riverton, Kansas, Cory Mallory of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Ethan D. Mallory of Joplin, Missouri; and five great grandchildren.
Wayne was the last living sibling of his family, being preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Dustin Matthew Mallory.

Funeral services were handled by Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas. The family received friends Friday, February 16, 2018, at the funeral home.
Graveside services were held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Antioch Christian Church and Cemetery just outside of Everton, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to Medicalodge of Columbus, in care of the funeral home.
